10 Tips to Hosting a No Fuss Children’s Birthday Party
Forget the pony rides, bouncy castles, centerpieces and tiered cakes, here are 10 tips to help plan a successful children party without the stress.
- RSVP –
- Consider sending a “save the date” message prior to sending the actual invitation.
- Make your RSVP date with ample time for late replies. Perhaps word it “please reply” instead of “RSVP”.
- Buy a cake from the supermarket freezer section.
- Make a simple cake or cupcakes decorate with icing and smarties
- FOOD –
- Definitely include the birthday child’s favourite food.
- Go for cheap and kid friendly finger food, pizza, sausage rolls, savloys
- HAVE A BACK UP PLAN –
- Have a game of “pass the parcel” or another age appropriate game prepared
- Be ready to move an outdoor party inside if need be.
- LOLLY BAGS –
- Forget the party favours, they will end up in the bin
- Stick with Lolly bags, worry about dental hygiene tomorrow.
- DO-IT-YOURSELF ENTERTAINMENT –
- Write a list of games to play that will fill at least an hour then add a couple more.
- Get someone to help you.
- BOOK AN ENTERTAINER –
- For a physical party book the GymBus for 1 hour.
- Search the Internet for other entertainers at least 6 weeks before the date
- DECORATIONS –
- Go with a colour scheme easier, cheaper
- Use balloons, table covers, serviettes, at most
- LOCATION –
- Home parties are the easiest with everything at your fingertips
- Venues include party centres, parks, public spaces, play centres.
- GUESTS –
- Limit the number of guests, the smaller, the better.
- Invite guests the same age as the birthday child.
