Hosting a No Fuss Children’s Birthday Party

Forget the pony rides, bouncy castles, centerpieces and tiered cakes, here are 10 tips to help plan a successful children party without the stress.

  1. RSVP –
  1. Consider sending a “save the date” message prior to sending the actual invitation.
  2. Make your RSVP date with ample time for late replies. Perhaps word it “please reply” instead of “RSVP”.

  1. BIRTHDAY CAKE
  1. Buy a cake from the supermarket freezer section.
  2. Make a simple cake or cupcakes decorate with icing and smarties

  1. FOOD
  1. Definitely include the birthday child’s favourite food.
  2. Go for cheap and kid friendly finger food, pizza, sausage rolls, savloys

  1. HAVE A BACK UP PLAN –
  1. Have a game of “pass the parcel” or another age appropriate game prepared
  2. Be ready to move an outdoor party inside if need be.

  1. LOLLY BAGS –
  1. Forget the party favours, they will end up in the bin
  2. Stick with Lolly bags, worry about dental hygiene tomorrow.

  1. DO-IT-YOURSELF ENTERTAINMENT –
  1. Write a list of games to play that will fill at least an hour then add a couple more.
  2. Get someone to help you.

  1. BOOK AN ENTERTAINER –
  1. For a physical party book the GymBus for 1 hour.
  2. Search the Internet for other entertainers at least 6 weeks before the date

  1. DECORATIONS –
  1. Go with a colour scheme easier, cheaper
  2. Use balloons, table covers, serviettes, at most

  1. LOCATION
  1. Home parties are the easiest with everything at your fingertips
  2. Venues include party centres, parks, public spaces, play centres.

  1. GUESTS –
  1. Limit the number of guests, the smaller, the better.
